(QHA) -

Simferopol airport suspends international flights to Turkey, deputy Minister of Russia on Crimea Andrey Sokolov announced.

“International flights are suspended, I not ready to say what is the reason for such suspension, it may be warnings from international airline companies”- Sokolov said.

To recall, Simferopol airport resumed operation of international flights to Istanbul, Turkey, that was operated with technical landing in Russian city of Anapa. This was the only international flight, operating from Crimea.

This came after all the European air companies announced suspension of their flight to Crimea amid the region’s joining Russia.

European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation Eurocontrol has banned European air companies flying to Crimea, following the region’s annexation.

Being a part of Ukraine, Simferopol airport operated international flights, by leading European and other air companies.
