SIMFEROPOL (QHA) -

Crimean charitable organization “Crimea Fund”, where the central office of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people was located, was fined 4,5 mln rubles. The director of the fund Riza Shevkiev was imposed 350,000 rubles fine.

Following decision was made Nov 18 after a 4-hours sitting of the court, QHA correspondent reports.

Riza Shevkiev said he would appeal to European Court of Human Rights to challenge this decision.

This comes after FSB officers raided the headquarters of the Mejlis Sept 16, seizing documents, USB flash cards, Islamic literature and computers.

Mejlis stuff was given 24 hours to evacuate the building, Mejlis’s property was seized.

Aksyonov then declared the Mejis dissolved, asserting that the body was "never properly registered" and therefore "did not exist”.

Crimea seceded from Ukraine and was annexed by Russia in March, following local referendum. The move, however, was not recognized by Kyiv and the West.
