A search warrant was issued on December 22, 2015 and signed by Natalia Poklonskaya, Prosecutor of Crimea. The criminal case was instituted for alleged participation in ‘extremist organization.’ In the past, Father Sergius participated in the organization ‘People's Movement of Ukraine.’

However, this organization is not included in the list of organizations subject to liquidation or prohibition (according to the law of the Russian Federation On Countering Extremist Activity).

During the search 4 notebook containing Father Sergius’s personal records, People's Movement of Ukraine identification certificate, military card and medical card were seized.

Today, two ‘plain-clothes’ men have stopped the priest’s mother in the street and taken her to the railway police station for questioning.

At the moment there is no way of reaching her.
