Police Oct 22 arrested Tair Smedlyaev, brother of Zair Smedlyaev—head of Kurultay’s election committee, accusing him of “violence against police officer”.
Tair Smedlyaev was driving a car, when the police reached him and demanded to stop. Later he was forced into a “Gazel” car.
This comes after two Crimean Tatars were arrested in Krasnogvardeyskoe region of Crimea on the suspicion of bodily injury of policemen on duty. They are detained at temporary detention facility of Russian Federal Security Service.
Both incidents are related to the May 3 peaceful action when thousands of Crimean Tatars arrived at Ukrainian-Crimean border to meet their leader Mustafa Jemilev, who was banned from entering Crimea for 5 years.
