It’s still unknown what led to a blast in one of the supermarkets in the city of Nusaybin. The explosion caused a fire which spread from a market to the flats located in the same five-story building.

Fire crews failed to evacuate people from the building and extinguish the fire. Therefore, a large number of vehicles belonging to the Mardin police station joined the fire fighting.

People, who could not get out of the building, were rescued with the help of a crane. The fire left 13 people injured, and 6 suffered thick smoke inhalation. All of them were taken to the city's public hospital. Being in critical condition, three of the wounded were later transported to the Mardin State Hospital.
