Attempt to smuggle device for signals intelligence to Russia stopped

SSU officers in the Kharkiv region jointly with border guards overlapped the channel of exporting devices and components for signals intelligence from Ukraine to Russia, the SSU press service reports.

The SSU officers (Security Service of Ukraine) detained a woman, who tried to smuggle a device with a plug-in antenna, while boarding the train Kharkiv - Moscow. The device was designed for use in the military-industrial complex of Russia and manufactured at one of the enterprises in Kharkiv.

According to preliminary estimates of experts, the device is configured to operate at frequencies that are used for military purposes (signals intelligence). The export of such devices requires permission of the State Export Control Service of Ukraine. 

Criminal proceedings into this incident have been commenced.
