January 29, Ukrainian servicemen repulsed the second over the day attack of the Russian-terrorist ORDLO troops on Avdiivka, the press-service of ATO headquarters reported.
During the confrontation Ukraine suffered losses - 4 Ukraine defenders killed and 5 suffered injuries.
“Following the massive mortar shelling near Avdiivka, invaders tried to storm our positions, and were forced to retreat as they had suffered losses. During the day, they continued firing mortars at settlements Avdiivka, Opytnoe and Kamenka. The tank was shooting at Peski. At 13.45, after shelling our positions with grenade launchers of various calibers, the invaders made another attempt to dislodge our troops from positions in Avdiivka area. The militants’ assault ended in failure. The enemy was forced to retreat. As of 18.00, 22 shellings were recorded. Unfortunately, four of our soldiers were killed, and five were injured,” the press center reported.
At the same time the so-called "Ministry of Defense" of the terrorist organization "DPR" reports that during the attempted attack on Avdiivka with a group of Russian mercenaries, the commander of the battalion "DPR Armed Forces" Ivan Balakay nicknamed "Grek" was killed.
Earlier, in the morning of January 29, Russian and separatist troops tried to attack the area of the industrial zone Avdiivka, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repulsed the attack.
