Crimean self defense forces March 14 detained Crimean activist Aleksandr Kravchenko, for bearing a yellow and blue ribbon, Center of Journalist Investigations reports. He was deployed to central police station of Simferopol.
The detention comes a day after Crimean court ordered 40 hours of corrective labour for Crimean activists Leonid Kuzmin, Veldar Shukurdzhiyev and Aleksandr Kravchenko over Ukrainian flag, they had unfurled during a peaceful action to commemorate Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.
Moreover, Leonid Kuzmin, 25, a school teacher of history, was dismissed.
Crimea seceded from Ukraine and joined Russia a year ago, following a local referendum on the region’s status, condemned as illegitimate be international community.
