5 people killed in ammonia explosion at Stirol Concern in Horlivka

Horlivka (QHA) - An accident occurred during ammonia pipeline repairs at Stirol Concern in Horlivka on August 6. According to preliminary reports, seven people were injured in the accident and five of them were killed, the press service of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has reported. "An ammonia pipeline has failed. There are reports about five dead employees of the enterprise. These figures are being specified," reads the statement, informs Ukrinform. Criminal proceedings were launched under Part 2, Article 272 (violation of safety rules for performing hazardous work) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the press service of Horlivka City Council, the environment department was instructed to organize work on the measurements of emissions into the atmosphere. The information and public liaisons department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reported on Tuesday that the head of the government has issued instruction to provide the bereaved families and the families of those injured in the accident with material aid. Azarov also instructed Ukrainian Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova to ensure that those injured in the ammonia accident receive all necessary medical treatment.
