Over the period from Nov, 2 till Nov, 8, 13 fires in Sevastopol left 3 people killed, reported the Chief of Civil Protection Igor Vasiliev.
- Ignition occured due to smoking in bed, violation of heat serving instructions and short circuit, said Vasilyev.
He added that one of the fires occurred in an orphanage in Okopnaya St.
- Children were evacuated from the building. I emphasize that the issues of fire safety at the round-the-clock facilities require special attention.
According to the Chief, over the past week one breakdown happened in gas and heat supply systems, 5 accidents in electricity networks and 10 - in water supply networks.
Vasilyev said that due to the deteriorating weather conditions and strong winds the risk of man-made fires and accidents in life support systems is increasing.
