A handbook for school teachers “Islam in Crimean culture and history” was presented in Simferopol on August 15. The book was published by the committee of Muslims of Crimea and is aimed at deepening knowledge of Crimean schoolchildren about history and culture of Crimean Tatars.
The book describes the history of Crimean Tatars in the history of Islam in Crimea, their interaction and the influence of the religion on customs, traditions and art of Crimean Tatars.
A team of historians, linguists, art historians, theologians and political scientists have worked on the handbook during the three years.
The authors emphasized that even though the book is mainly oriented at schools, it can be useful for wide audience.
Four thousand copies of the book were printed.
