KYIV (QHA) -

Crimean applicants who want to study in the mainland Ukraine can enter Ukrainian universities with the help of special educational centers that will start work on June 19, according to Svetlana Kretovich, a specialist of the Higher Education Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science:

”From June 19 to September 30, 12 "Crimea-Ukraine" centers start their work. The main purpose of these centers is to simplify the conditions for admission of applicants from the Crimea who want to study in the mainland Ukraine. The centers worked last year and they helped 152 Crimean applicants to enter Ukrainian universities. Last year quotas in 1200 budget places for Crimean applicants were reserved, this year the quotas will be at the rate of 900 places. In analogy to "Ukraine-Crimea» educational centers, the similar centers for applicants from the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas – “Donbas-Ukraine” – will also start".

The representative of the Education and Science Ministry reminded that Ukraine does not recognize educational documents issued on the territory of Crimea. Therefore Crimeans have the opportunity to get a Ukrainian certificate with the help of the special procedure after passing the required examinations.

"Crimea - Ukraine" centers are situated in Lviv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia.

Earlier, the Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Vadim Chernysh recorded a video message to young people from areas beyond Ukraine's control, calling them to enter Ukrainian universities.
