The Revenues and Duties Ministry denied information Ukraine has the largest number of taxes in the world. The Ministry's press service informs about this, reports Ukrinform.

“A statement that Ukraine leads in the world by the number of taxes according to the World Bank's Doing Business rating does not reflect reality,” a statement reads.

First, the Revenues Ministry notes, according to the World Bank methodology, in the rating of easiness in Paying Taxes, which is a component part of the rating on easiness of Doing Business, total number of taxes is not taken into consideration, but the number of tax payments over the year.

Second, in the recent Paying Taxes 2013 rating (by results of 2012), the World Bank experts, estimating the Ukrainian taxation system by “the number of payments” index, fixed a considerable progress: from 135 payments in 2011 to 28. The matter does not concern the number of taxes, but the number of payments.

At the same time, the average index of payments in the world's countries is 27.2, in Central Asian and East European regions - 30.4. The largest number of payments (24) in Ukraine falls on payroll tax, whereas profit tax is administrated by only one payment.

To remind, by results of 2012, in the rating of the Paying Taxes systems, Ukraine's progress makes up 18 points: the state rose from the 181st position to the 165th (with taking into consideration that the last year's 181st position was changed due to two countries that joined the rating).
