Kyiv (QHA) - Neither Ukrainian government nor private companies have the intentions and rights to sell the land to foreigners, including the Chinese. This was announced by head of agricultural holding KSG Agro Sergey Kasyanov. He commented press reports about alleged plans of the Chinese corporation Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) to acquire or lease nearly 3 million hectares of Ukrainian farmland from KSG Agro. "This information, to put it mildly, is not true. It's not about buying and even not about the sublease, it is about joint activities ", - said Kasyanov. He said that his holding and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps indeed signed a letter of intentions, a framework document, which provides for future cooperation in the field of food production. It is planned to begin with the installation of drip irrigation systems on lands that are leased by KSG Agro; a total of 96 thousand hectares in Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson and Crimea. “Next year, in the framework of this cooperation it is planned to install such equipment on 3 thousand hectares of land with gradual increase”, said Kasyanov. He also said that Chinese specialists and XPCC management visited the lands this summer. Kasyanov emphasized that the project with Chinese partners is only part of the ambitious plans of the government to restore the irrigation system in the country. According to him, joint work in the field of crops growing and livestock is also possible. Kasyanov expressed surprise with the current flow of information in the media with false facts.
