As of April 1, 2017, South Korea invested almost 200 million dollars in Ukraine, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Mikhail Titarchuk said at the “Ukraine-Korea: Reformation Festival” forum, QHA correspondent reported.

“According to the Global Innovation international index, we occupy the 50th position. And every year we win six more positions”, the official noted.

Titarchuk said that the fourth meeting of the intergovernmental commission between Ukraine and South Korea is planned on the beginning of July.

“This commission is an important platform for the exchange of successful innovative projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, transport, tourism and health care”, Titarchuk stressed.

Ukraine signed 70 reciprocal investment protection agreements. The regime of national investment activity is available now. It means that foreign investors are equal to Ukrainian ones.

Many Koreans are afraid to invest in Ukraine, due to issues of the local business environment, the Ambassador of South Korea in Ukraine Lee Young-Gu reported, according to DS publishing.

At the same time the Ambassador noted the improvement of business climate in Ukraine.

Korean companies have virtually no information about the Ukrainian economic potential and it is the reason of their low business activity in Ukraine. Koreans called to change the image of Ukraine as the country of the conflict.
