Starting March 11, Simferopol airport in Crimea receives Russian flights only, reports Kommersant.ua.
Crimea closes its airspace on the eve of the referendum. Officially, the reason named is “technical limitations”. Sources of kommersant.ua claim that the control point of the airport came under control of “self-defense groups” of Crimea.
Reception of flights from other countries, as well as Ukrainian cities is to resume after the referendum, which is to take place on March 16.
According to online information boards of the airport, flights of 'Turkish Airlines' and 'Atlasjet' from Istanbul, as well as flights of the largest Ukrainian carrier ‘Ukraine International Airlines’ and 'Yanair' from Kyiv were canceled. At the same time, Simferopol airport continues to receive flights from Moscow’s Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports.
