A shipment of sausages from the Dnipropetrovsk region has been denied entry to Crimea, press service of Roselhoznadzor (Russian food safety authority) reports.
The shipment, comprising 274 packs of assorted sausages and weighing about 1.7 tons, was being brought to Crimea via the Perekop checkpoint.
According to the report, the product’s failure to comply with quality and safety regulations was cited as a reason for denying entry. In particular, the sausages were found to contain dangerously high concentrations of Escherichia coli, a strain of intestinal bacteria.
The entire shipment has been sent back to Ukraine.
