The Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev considers self-production of the annexed Crimea with food products to be insufficient, which is "alarming". Patrushev made a corresponding statement on March 14, at the visiting meeting in the Southern Federal District of Russia.

The Russian Federation Territorial body of State Statistics in Crimea, the "Krymstat", informed that in the third quarter of 2016, the food costs of residents of the occupied Crimea amounted to 47% of total consumer spending, according to late estimates.
