MOSCOW (QHA) -

According to the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, as of January 1, 2016 Russia will end the Russia-Ukraine free trade zone agreement, as well as impose retaliatory sanctions.

- As of January 1, 2016 Russia will apply against Ukraine the import duties stipulated by the Common Customs Tariff EAEC, that is Ukraine will be granted the MFN status without any exceptions. All preferences are fading, there will be no benefits, said the Head of the Russian Cabinet.

This decision was taken due to Ukraine’s declaration to implement the economic part of the EU Association Agreement as of 2016. According to the Russian leadership, they have repeatedly warned Ukraine about the consequences of decisions uncoordinated with Russia.

The same applies to economic retaliation caused by Ukraine's joining the anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union and United States, reports the Russian Tass. Russian Prime Minister Medvedev got offended that their requirements have been ignored once again.

According to Ukraine’s President, such a decision is no surprise for Ukraine and the EU saying the aggressor’s opinion is no longer of any priority for him, as well as the Ukrainian government.
