Russia appropriated the Sevastopol Marine Plant named after Ordzhonikidze in the occupied Crimea. The corresponding order was published on the website of the government of the Russian Federation.
Until 2015, the plant belonged to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, after which the Russian occupation authorities nationalized it. Now the plant will belong to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The website of the Russian government noted that the enterprise performs work to ensure the defense capability, in particular government contracts to repair warships and ships, and also produces and repairs civil marine equipment.
Reportedly, earlier the Sevastopol Marine Plant was included in the US sanctions list because of their connection with Russian special services and military. The US explained the introduction of new sanctions response to Russia's actions in Eastern Europe and Syria, as well as interference in the election of the US president in 2016.
