KYIV (QHA) -

During the festive events dedicated to the Day of Dignity and Freedom, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that share of the European Union in Ukraine's foreign trade comprised 41%.

“The agreement [.. on the Ukraine Association with the EU – Ed.] has already begun to produce results: The share of the European Union in our foreign trade is now 41%,”  the president said.

He noted that the EU market is already beginning to offset the blow to the Ukrainian economy, social sphere and quality of life, caused by the Russian Federation, which closed the access of Ukrainian goods to its territory and blocked the transit to other countries.

“I am sincerely grateful to the leaders of the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Spain who have recently adopted the decision to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation to stop the Russian aggression in Ukraine. I hope that the same approach will be the basis for the next EU Council decision on the extension of the sectoral and economic sanctions against the Russian Federation,” the head of state said.

Earlier, the QHA reported that Ukraine is to receive a visa-free regime for entry to the EU countries as the next step for rapprochement between Ukraine and the EU. Currently this project is under consideration in the UN Parliament. And Ukraine, in turn, has fulfilled all the necessary requirements for introduction of the visa-free regime.
