KYIV (QHA) - The fish catch and the production of other aquatic resources in Ukraine's waters amounted to more than 71,000 tons January through May 2013, the State Statistics Service has reported, according to Ukrinform. 
"In January-May 2013, enterprises and individual entrepreneurs engaged in fishing caught and produced 71,100 tons of fish and other aquatic resources, which was 12.5% more than in January-May 2012 due to a 21.7% increase in the fish catch (67,900 tons, or 95.5% of the total volume). The production of other aquatic resources reached 3,200 tons, which was 2.3 times less than in the previous year," reads the statement.
A total of 5,682 tons of fish was caught in inland waters in the first five months of the year, which was 47.5% more than in the same period last year. Some 34,997 tons of fish was caught in exclusive (maritime) economic zones of other states in January-May 2013, which was 4% less than in the same period last year.
