Russia is ready to negotiate on gas cost allowance for Ukraine if it repays the debts as of April 1.

This was reported by the Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, RIA Novosti says.

“Russia is ready to negotiate on gas cost allowance for Ukraine if it repay the unconditional debt as of April 1”- Novak announced.

Besides that the Minister has informed about the next tripartite meeting of Russia, Ukraine and the EU on gas issues is scheduled for May 26.

Meanwhile, European Commissioner for Energy Guenther Oettinger, said the European Union is ready to provide Ukraine with a financial assistance to repay the gas debts, however he said the gas price should be the market one.

To recall, May 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that starting in June, Russia will deliver gas to Ukraine only if it pays in advance, noting Ukraine's gas debt to Gazprom reached $3.5 billion.
