According to Vladimir Groisman, decentralization made it possible to improve infrastructure in the villages, towns and regions.

‘In the last five months, some UAH 54 billion was transferred to the local budgets, an increase of UAH 17 billion on the same period last year. In fact, we are talking about an increase of almost 50%. This means that these funds should be used to improve the quality of life in the regions. I’m talking about improving roads, hospitals, stadiums, schools and kindergartens. We do have money for that,” Groisman said at a government meeting.

He noted that some cities have budgets of several billion hryvnas, and it is very important not only to ensure financial decentralization, but also make use of the funds wisely. This requires that mayors and executive committees in the regions were accountable to the public.
