The signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union does not prevent the deepening of relations with the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan as part of the expansion of the existing CIS free trade area.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov said this at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, according to the government portal, Ukrinform reports.
“It's currently impossible to allow the weakening of the Eurasian vector of our foreign policy and the loss of markets for our goods and services in the Customs Union countries”, Azarov claimed.
The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to speed up the preparation of concrete proposals regarding accession to certain agreements and technical regulations of the Customs Union.
According to Azarov it's necessary to use all opportunities for the development of the Ukrainian economy.
