Crimea ignores ban on Turkish fruit and vegetables

Despite the sanctions imposed by the Russian Federation, the imports of fruits from Turkey to the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea continue.

In April 2016, a total of 24.6 tons of fruits from Turkey were imported into the annexed Crimea, Crimean Office of Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia) reports.

According to the agency, 520 thousand units of planting materials, including 13.2 thousand - from Belgium, 329.4 thousand - from Italy and 178.2 thousand - from Serbia, have been imported to the peninsular for a month.

Earlier, the illegitimate head of the peninsula Sergei Aksyonov said that Turkish citizens would not work in Crimea, all investment contracts with them would be terminated, and the import of Turkish goods to Crimea was banned.
