Creation of Ukrainian Commodity Exchange provides access to world markets

After visiting Kyiv the Chicago Mercantile Exchange leadership intends to examine the conditions and help in establishing a commodity exchange in Ukraine.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange is one of the largest commodity exchanges known for its futures contracts on agricultural products.

“The Chicago Mercantile Exchange representatives have visited our country. We really want to set up the project on creation the efficient commodity exchange in Ukraine. Our country is No. 3 in the world in terms of grain exports, and we need to have appropriate quotations on the Euronext, Chicago and other exchanges,” said Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. 

Following the meeting with the American delegation, the decision was taken to create a working group on establishing the commodity exchange.

“I’m sure that this will contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and economy of Ukraine as a whole,” Oleksiy Pavlenko emphasized.
