Western experts claim that cryptocurrency is used in the annexed Crimea to bypass Visa and Mastercard, blocked payment systems.

Although Russia has banned the circulation of the Cryptocurrency in its territory, experts believe that it will not be possible for the Russian government to track and prohibit the transfer of bitcoin to anyone.

Also, North Korea is using the sharp rise in prices for Bitcoin, and its popularity in order to receive large sums of money. In recent months, North Korean hackers have targeted digital currency exchangers, using carefully disguised emails to deceive employees, and steal the cryptocurrency.

Earlier, sanctions of the United States of America against the energy and banking sectors of the Russian economy have entered into force, according to US Finance Ministry. Sanctions were imposed over Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury published an updated instruction on the application of restrictions that relate to strengthening sanctions against the energy and banking sectors.

Reportedly, December 14, the heads of state and government of the member states of the European Union will take a political decision to extend the sectoral economic restrictive measures against Russia imposed for infringement on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
