Taras Shevchenko is a genius, whose works were translated into most languages of the world. The monuments to the great Ukrainian poet have been installed in Ukraine and many countries. Parks, boulevards, streets, universities and theaters were named after him.
Despite the short life, Taras Shevchenko left his mark in literature and fine arts. He wrote poems ("Haydamaky", "Dream", "Kateryna", etc.), ballads ("Prychynna"), novels ( "Princess", "Musician"). Well-known collections of his poetry: "Kobzar" (early work), "Three Years", "In the Dungeon" (written in prison).
Taras Shevchenko is the author of more than a thousand art works, mainly landscapes, portraits and genre paintings. He had mastered the drawing technique with a pencil, pen, watercolor and oil.
Being a great patriot of his land, Taras Shevchenko, with pain and sympathy, wrote about the servile position of the Ukrainian people and devoted his talent to the fight for their freedom. These days Taras Shevchenko remains the great symbol of the independent Ukraine.
