‘New Wave Junior’ contest started in Crimea'

Yalta (QHA) - On august 18, ‘New wave junior’ international young singers contest started at International children's center Artek. Sixteen performers from 11 countries of the world have reached the final, KIA news informs. The jury includes famous artist of Ukraine and Russia, among them is the Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar origin Jamala. At the opening of the event the head of Crimean Government Anatoly Mogilev congratulated the contestants on behalf of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. “Each of the participants of the festival has the potential to become a world-class star”, - he said. “I believe every child is unique and talented in his way, our purpose is to help children find themselves.They are our future”, - states the President’s address. As reported earlier “New Wave for juniors” is held under the patronage of the President of Ukraine. The purpose of the contests is spiritual and creative development of children, and strengthening of cultural relationships between the countries. The contest will last till August 20. After several days of performances, the jury will pick the winner. Note: New Wave is an international contest for young performers of popular music that is held annually in Yurmala. It was founded by a Russian composer Igor Krutoy and by Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls in 2002. New Wave Junior contest is for children 8 to 13 years old. For the first time it was held in 2008.
