Jamala awarded People's Artist of Ukraine title

President of Ukraine thanked the singer for the "important work she does for the Ukrainian people as a whole and for the Crimean Tatars in particular."

President Petro Poroshenko has awarded the Ukrainian singer of the Crimean Tatar origin Jamala the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

- Jamala’s fantastic victory at Eurovision made a huge number of people happy. This success is worthy of the honorary title "People's Artist of Ukraine," the President wrote on Facebook.

The Head of State noted that the song, which tells the plight of the Crimean Tatar people, has returned the Crimean issue to the agenda.

- The song, which tells the history of the Crimean Tatar people, touches a heart so much that you simply cannot but support, vote and thus become a member of the large-scale process of liberation of Crimea! Wrote Poroshenko.
