The film ‘Winter on Fire’ about Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity has won the Grand Prix at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film has won the Audience Award in category ‘documentary’, Ukrinform reports.
“I would like to extend my thanks to you for support and recognition of our film as an important historical document devoted to Ukrainian patriotism and unity,” said Yevgeny Afineevsky, the filmmaker.
He also said that the film will be available to Netflix subscribers starting October 9, 2015. “I would like to extend my gratitude to Netflix company and its wonderful team for believing in our film and showing it to 65 mln viewers worldwide,” he said.
As part of the Festival another film ‘Song of Songs’ directed by Eva Neumann was shown to viewers.
The current Toronto International Film Festival has marked its 40th anniversary. Over 300 films from more than 60 countries have been screened at the Festival during 10 days. The principal feature of the festival is the absence of the jury: film with the highest number of positive audience feedback wins the prize.
