Crimean Tatar ornament to be submitted to UNESCO list

The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture expects a positive response from the organization committee the next year.

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine proposed to include the elements of the Crimean Tatar ornament into the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage,reported the First Deputy Minister of Culture Svetlana Fomenko during a press conference "Strategy for preservation and sustainable development of culture, traditions, national color and originality of the Crimean Tatars" in Kiev, according to a QHA correspondent.

She noted that the formation of the dossier for submission of the objects to be included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO takes from 2 to 5 years.

“Finishing the work on the dossier and the list of the Crimean Tatar elements will be a good example of the Ministry’s efforts in this field. I think that next year we will get a positive response from the UNESCO Committee," said the Ministry of Culture representative.

In 2013, UNESCO decided to include the unique Petrikov ornament on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
