December 3, the Turkish-Crimean dernek in New York (Kırım Tatarı Amerikan Birliği (“American Society of Crimean Turks”) hosted a Crimean Tatar evening party, attended by the Crimean Tatars from all over the US and Canada.

Gayana Yuksel, a member of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis and Director of the QHA news agency, attended the event at the invitation of the representative of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora Rustem Borludzha, according to her Facebook page.

After the welcoming words by the head of dernek Naci Tozer, Gayana Yuksel addressed the guests, conveying greetings from the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev and Chairman of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Refat Chubarov. She also asked her compatriots in the United States not to lose touch with their homeland. Gayana YukseYuksel told the audience about the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar political prisoners in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

At the evening party, the Crimean Tatar youth delighted the guests with a variety of folk dances and songs. Among the guests were the Crimean Tatar singer Urie Kermenchikli and the relatives of the deceased Crimean Tatar actress Ayshe Dittanova.

December 2, Gayana Yuksel and Rustem Borludzha visited the monument to victims of the 1944 Deportation of the Crimean Tatars in the Washington Memorial Park, which is set in a Muslim cemetery, where the representatives of the Crimean Tatar and Kazan Tatar Diaspora lie buried.
