The first international Christmas Festival opened on January 13. Performance groups from Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic and Lithuania are taking part in the event.
The Festival began with a small parade of participants. They marched from the Lviv City Hall through the traditional Christmas fair to the venue - the stage set up in front of the Opera House.
Prior to the start of the parade, the local activists delivered their commencement addresses.
“This event is very important for the city, since it helps to preserve and develop our culture that we so cherish. It is also an opportunity to tell tourists about Lviv and traditions of our region. This Festival has been held for the first time, and we do hope that it will become an annual event. This year we hosted the representatives from only three countries, but we are going to attract more ensembles and scale up the event,” an organizer of the Festival said in his interview with a QHA correspondent.
