EBRD to finance Southern Crimean coast water supply system repair

AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will allocate funds to repair a water supply system of the Southern Coast of Crimea.
The corresponding credit agreement was signed between the Crimean government and the EBRD, according to the Council of Minister’s press service.
Mark Magaletsky, Senior Banker, Head of Infrastructure and Energy, EBRD in Ukraine, said that the project was approved last week by the Bank’s Credit Committee and will be submitted for the consideration by the Board of Directors.
“Documents have been submitted to the Board of Directors. We are waiting for the reply within two weeks, and after that get to sign credit agreement,” Mr. Magaletsky noted.
During a meeting with the EBRD representative on February 2, the Prime Minister of Crimea Anatolii Mohyliov told that the Council of Ministers of Crimea is still interested in the joint reconstruction of the water supply system in Big Yalta.
“We have out principal decision – we are ready to participate in your project, because we understand that the water supply in the Southern Coast of Crimea, to put it mildly, is bad. This is a world class resort and we must address the problem,” he stressed.
The reconstruction project of water supply and discharge system of the Southern Coast of Crimea is developed to improve the quality of wastewater treatment, prevent the discharge of untreated effluents into receiving water bodies, reduce energy consumption, provide a stable water supply to population and environmental safety.
“If local warranty is endorsed in February and there is the decision of the Board of Directors, we are ready to sign the agreement in March. Given the tenders and signing contracts we will be ready to begin work in June,” said the EBRD’s leading banker Denis Gayevoy.
