CHESNO civic movement sets up Crimean branch AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - Initiators of the CHESNO civic movement along with local NGOs and activists of Aqmescit/ Simferopil have opened a regional platform in the capital of Crimea. The presentation of the organization has been held on February 20, according to the movement’s official website.
As reported, a member of the Crimean Independent Center of Political Researchers and Journalists, Svitlana Yereshchenko, was elected as the regional coordinator. Founders of the platform are eight organizations, including the Crimean Independent Center of Political Researchers and Journalists, Committee of Voters of Ukraine, Crimean Press Freedom Committee, Centre for Political Analysis and Forecasting ‘Krym’, the Yevpatoriya Regional Development Centre, the Crimean Tatar Youth Centre, the Ukrainian Community of Crimea, Top-Kaya Centre and Union of Young Civil Servants.
“In the near future we will hold another meeting in Simferopil and invite all partners concerned,” S. Yereshchenko said.
Thus, Aqmescit became the 13th city that joined the All-Ukrainian initiators’ tour CHESNO. The tour aims to unite citizens of Ukraine to get rid of unworthy deputies in the future parliament. All in all, initiators of the civic movement plan to open 25 regional branches in all the regions of Ukraine, including Crimea. The regional branches have already been presented in Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Odesa, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kharkiv.
“We have a common purpose – to influence the policy quality in Ukraine,” noted Oleh Rybachuk, representative of CHESNO’s Central Coordination Council.
During the presentation, members of the civic movement told about “six criteria of integrity” each voter should be governed by when electing a candidate from a certain political force. The criteria are universal, and they will be applied both to current MPs and candidates.
Reference: The main principles of the new movement are being impolitic (movement in any case does not raise political slogans, and moreover, after the election will cease to exist); nonpartisan (invites representatives of all political parties); no leaders; respect for the information, that is, publishing only those facts that are verified and documented. This is very important not to cast aspersions on the future deputies and to select reliable information to reflect the voters.
The movement plans to test this spring whether the people’s deputies meet the requirements, identify those who skipped the meeting sessions, as well as corruptionists and liars, and require all parties not to put these people on their lists. Later on, the movement will draw up lists of candidates who do not meet the requirements and carry out extensive information work among the voters.
Thus, owing to the CHESNO civic movement, voters will have accurate information about the unworthy candidates.
