Cargo ship with Ukrainians aboard stuck on Danube KYIV (QHA) - A dry-cargo vessel with ten Ukrainians onboard has been blocked by ice on the Danube River, Interfax-Ukraine reported citing the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
“The ship is stuck 200 meters from the riverbank, 50 km from Belgrade (Serbia),” said Oleksandr Dykusarov, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman.
He also noted that a task force to address the issue of releasing the ship from ice has been set up.
“The crew is in a satisfactory condition. The ship has a two-week supply of water, food and fuel,” the spokesman added.
According to him, Ukrainian diplomats are in touch with the crewmembers and representatives of the emergency services and authorities of Serbia.
