
AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - February 2, the V. Vernadsky Tavriia national University has become a venue of the International Global Village Youth Festival.
The event was organized by the NGO International Republican Association of Leaders ‘AIESEC in Crimea.’
Anastasiya Hanenko, Vice President of Marketing Communications, AIESEC in Aqmescit/ Simferopil, noted that the purpose of the festival is to acquaint Crimean residents with the national culture and traditions of different peoples.
“This is a festival of cultures, where today there are representatives of more than ten countries, as well as representatives of our Crimean organizations representing Jewish and Crimean Tatar cultures. <...> The festival takes place not the first year. There are not many differences, in principle… The purpose of the event remains the same - to develop the outlook and tolerance of our Simferopil youth to introduce them more with other cultures around the world,” she emphasized.
Global Village Festival was attended by more than 70 foreign students - volunteers from different countries: China, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, India and so on. Students came to Ukraine on the AIESEC international internship to participate in social, educational and environmental projects. During the festival, the trainees presented the culture of their countries, in particular, have shown household items and costumes, talked about their traditions, performed the dance and vocal numbers.
First participating in the festival was the Crimean Tatar youth NGO ‘Yaşlar Şurası’ (‘The Council of Youth’) which introduced the culture of the Crimean Tatars.
“The international organization AIESEC invited us to participate in the Global Village Festival and represent a Crimean Tatar culture. We, on behalf of ‘Yaşlar Şurası’ will try to present our culture. Here are our national sweets - qurabye, baklava, şeker qıyıq, as well as pottery, jewelry, embroidery, national flag,” said Adil Memet, a member of the NGO.
After the concert, the guests of the festival communicated with each other, tried the national dishes and shared small gifts.
